Chicago Cubs Information

The Chicago Cubs began their inaugural season in 1876 as one of the original eight charter teams of the National League. They capped off their first season in style, bringing home a National League Championship. The team received the name "cubs" in 1902, when the nickname became popular due to the number of young players on the team. Originally, they were known as the Chicago Red Stockings, but the name changed several times to names such as the "Orphans," the "Remnants," or the "Colts." The Chicago Cubs, as we know them today, have played at historically famous Wrigley Field since 1916 and continue to play there today. With the many technological updates to keep it up to today's standards, fans purchase tickets in overwhelming numbers not only to watch their favorite team compete for a Championship season but also to see one of the oldest ball parks in history. The Chicago Cubs' illustrious franchise accomplishments include 2 World Series Championships, 16 National League pennants, and 4 division titles.

The Chicago Cubs have torn through the beginning of this 2008 season, posting a solid 39-22 record which puts them atop the NL Central Division. Fans are purchasing tickets like hot cakes, wondering if their Cubs can take it all the way this year and continue their early season success. With All-Star Carlos Zambrano pitching strike outs and batting in home runs in addition to All-Stars Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster, the Chicago Cubs are looking pretty solid this season and are favorites in the National League for winning the pennant.
